The Unesco Site “The Lombards in Italy. Places of power ”(568-774 AD) represents the emblem of the Lombard kingdom in Italy. It is an exemplary artistic and cultural testimony. The site includes seven groups of important buildings including fortresses, ancient churches and fascinating monasteries scattered throughout the Italian peninsula.
Among these, the complex of Santa Sofia in Benevento stands out.
